I have the Power!!!

That picture is what our life has been like for the past two days! We had a power outage due to the aftermath of hurricane Ike! That is actually a picture taken in our apartment. The thing that was really hard was the fact that we couldn't make food on the stove or in the microwave. But then again, we had no refrigerator or freezer to keep food in. It was crazy and really made us reevaluate our emergency preparedness. Thankfully the power came back after about 54 hours rather than the 10-14 days they are quoting it will take to get the whole city up and running. I never knew I could scream and sing so loud for joy upon driving into Silver Springs and seeing the lights on. But I did and had no shame!

This experience also made me so appreciative and thankful for such wonderful friends here in Kentucky. We are so truly blessed! We had so many people feed us and offer to feed us for the whole week. Friends brought us ice, gave us freezer room to store food, played games with us by candlelight, and checked up on us. People offered to let us stay with them even. So thank you to all of our wonderful friends here for all the help, assistance, and fun we had while having no power! We love ya!

I'm glad you have your power back! I go crazy just when the Internet goes down for a little while . . . I couldn't imagine no power at all for 54 hours! I checked out your recipes you are posting! Those ones are my favorties too! I'll have to check it out more often. Looks like a lot of good ones there!
