Sweet Virginia
As many of you know, Mike has been interviewing at orthodontic schools for the past month. He interviewed at VCU in Richmond, Virginia on October 30-31. Since he had a fall break from school after that, we decided to make a family trip of it!
We had a great time! We got our hotel for a smokin' deal off Priceline in downtown Richmond. While Mikey interviewed, I toured around the city. One of the days, I went to tour the Confederate White House where Jefferson Davis lived during the Civil War. I say I went to tour it, but Kira got us kicked off the tour. If you know Kira, you know she is a socialite. She was so busy trying to get everyone's attention on the tour and blabbing on and on that they kindly escorted us both out! Can you believe she's getting us into trouble already? (They did end up giving me a private tour. Gotta love the southern hospitality!)
Mike and I were able to go to Washington D.C. for two of the days! It was awesome. Mike had never been, and I hadn't been since I was 14. We were able to visit the Washington Monument, the Lincoln Memorial, the Jefferson Memorial, the World War II Memorial, the White House, the Capitol, the Spy Museum, and the National Air and Space Museum. We had a great time! We both love our country and have tons of national pride. It was great to be in D.C. with all our American history.
The gorgeous fountains at the World War II Memorial

Kira was loving hanging off these bars. But where is she trying to break into?
Take a closer look.
Here's the Jefferson Memorial. It's a little far away from the other monuments but so worth going to.
The Washington Monument at dusk.
Here's the infrared Courtright's at the National Air and Space Museum. We were laughing our heads off checking out our infrared selves.

Flintstones...meet the Flintstones...
Every year, I only spend $20 or less on the costumes. This year I went over by 50 cents because I bought those stretchy pants for Kira, but I've already used them for real outfits for her. Come on, you can always use a good pair of stretchy pants.
Our costume this year was inspired by Kira of course because of her straight, stick up hair. She was a perfect Pebbles Flintstone. So here's the costumes for 2008.

Kira didn't know quite what to think about Daddy's hair.
